Okay, so there’s not been much writing going on recently I’ll give you that, but, I have been “rewriting my personal environment”. (Imagine I’ve just said that in a really whiney voice and allow yourself some time for your brain to decipher this last sentence.)

What do you mean you don’t know what I’m talking about? Everyone does this at some time or another and is Cher-speak for declutter. Not that I’m in the habit of quoting Cher but I decided to make an exception on this occasion.

So now you know I’m in the middle of a major declutter and it’s more than just a pre-spring spring clearout. It’s a full-on bin, sell or keep everything (I think there could be a TV programme in this “Bin, Sell or Keep” presented by Angela Rippon or some other bossy type). Anyway, the reason for this is…..we are moving house to a smaller place with no loft storage, no garage and no other place to store all those boxes of really important stuff we’ve lugged about and carefully bunged in the loft or garage only to never see the light of day until the next house move. Hmm – it was time for drastic action, and, it’s amazing how liberating it feels. The only slightly weepy moment was looking at those “too small” clothes I’ve hung onto in the hope I’ll eventually lose weight and squeeze back into them.

Speaking of losing weight I’ve started following the Paul McKenna “I can make you thin” programme which involves certain rules like eating really slowly and recognising when you are full up. Now I know this sounds really obvious but think about it, how many people eat out of habit or boredom or just because they fancy something nice? I’m also listening to his mind-programming CD, although the first couple of times I couldn’t relax just in case he slipped in a dodgy “now baa like a sheep” and I’d be going around baa-ing at everyone and eating grass.

So I guess I’m also having a declutter of my body, getting rid of any unnecessary fat and hoping to squeeze into those smaller clothes which I’ll no longer own which will of course mean a whole new wardrobe will be required- woo hoo! Of course if I held onto those too small clothes, I’d more than likely not lose weight. Yes, never try and understand the workings of the female mind!

A belated Happy New Year to all readers of this blog. Unfortunately I’ve not had a good start to 2012 due to an allergic reaction to antibiotics. On Hogmanay, itchy blotches popped up all over my body. Where clothes touched my skin a new spot instantly appeared. I ended up wearing a sheet and lathering myself in calamine lotion – not a pretty sight. I stayed up for “the Bells” only because I couldn’t sleep and at 5am in the morning I was on the phone to NHS Scotland. A trip to the doctors on New Year’s morning resulted in a week on antihistamines making me feel completely spaced out. Luckily the blotches have now disappeared and I almost feel like my old self again. Here’s wishing everyone a healthy, happy and blotch-free 2012!

I’ve been “Missing in Action” from the blog recently due to a yucky head cold and horrible cough which gets worse at night when I’m trying to get some shut eye, so writing anything at all has been a step too far for my sleep deprived brain.

However every cloud really does have a silver lining because :

1. Not being able to sleep means I can catch up on the TV recordings I’ve made but somehow never get around to watching. I work on the 80 / 20 rule. I usually watch only 20% of what I’ve recorded while the other 80% eventually gets deleted to make space for the next lot of stuff I probably won’t watch.

2. Eating and drinking stops me coughing. Especially crisps.

Of course this silver lining in itself has a cloud and I’m turning into even more of a couch potato. HELP! Need cold / cough remedies fast before I turn into the shape and size of my sofa….
